On Wednesday 13th July, pupils and staff participated in not one, but two whole school events!
The Bonnie Challenge was the first adventure to tackle, with year 8 pupils walking up the notoriously steep but beautiful, sunny hillside, in order to line the finish and cheer on the year 7s.
In their house groups, year 7 left the starting post and began the 1km course with enthusiasm and determination. Those who found it more difficult were encouraged by their peers to keep going with rapturous applause and were often joined by other members of their house team for the final stretch. All pupils should feel very proud, with new records being set by Emmeline and Jerry every participant in year 7 completing the challenge.
Mrs Turner said “It was a pleasure to watch the two year groups working hard and supporting each other – the sense of team spirit was impressive”.
After completion of the Bonnie Challenge, it was swiftly on to TIFS Sports Day at Rew Valley. Pupils competed in house teams to earn points in activities such as Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Shotput, and track events, for the remainder of the school day. Pupils were once again full of enthusiasm and team camaraderie and threw themselves into each activity with gusto.
Following an exciting finish to the day’s events with the first Whole School Marathon Relay, Mr Boyd announced the final results before presenting the Cresswell Seaward Cup to the winning house.
After a tense few seconds, Caesitas were announced as the victors, closely followed by Rubeum, then Flavi. Fourth place was taken by Viridis, with Rosea in fifth.
Mr Milton said: “I’m immensely proud of all the pupils, they rose to the challenges presented and showed fantastic sportsmanship”.
