Activities Week 2019 – Year 8 Visit to The Ardèche, France

36 pupils in year 8 visited The Ardèche in the south of France for Activities Week. The 9 day trip saw pupils engage in outdoor adventure activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, raft building, night line, river trek and high ropes. Pupils we also able to experience French culture when they visited the local town of Vallon and the historical landmark of Pont D’Arc.

The highlight of the trip had to be a two day descent down the Ardèche River. Pupils were in pairs as they navigated their way down the 26km route, aiming to tackle the rapids in their path. All pupils successfully completed the descent and an overnight stay at a bivouc site sleeping under the stars.
It has been fantastic to see Year 8 pupils push themselves to new limits, build effective communication with others and work efficiently as part of a team. Miss Sheen, Miss Rhead, Mrs Grist and Mr Brett fully immersed themselves in the activities on the trip and everyone was a credit to our school.
