Year 7 excels in their First Term at TIFS

Year 7 have made a brilliant start to their time at The Island Free School, enjoying a fantastic first half term. They have settled into their new school exceptionally well, experiencing the full breadth of our rich curriculum and ambitious enrichment programme.

The year group has consistently impressed Mr Chatwin and Mrs Jones with the sheer number of good news cards and compliments they’ve received from staff. Their enthusiasm and positive attitude have truly shone through this first term.

A highlight of the term was the Year 7 Hike, a core tradition in our school calendar. All 125 pupils were taken in their houses to different parts of the island, armed with maps and the singular goal of making it back to school by the end of the day. We are proud to report that every pupil made it back successfully. It was a great chance for them to bond, and they showed excellent behaviour and teamwork throughout.

Their efforts on the hike earned each participant a Bronze Pre-DofE expedition badge, and we look forward to awarding them more in the future.

Year 7 will also have the chance to participate in their first RE Day today. They’ll spend the day off-timetable, engaging in a range of activities focused on religion. This term, the focus is on Christianity, and over the coming terms, they will explore five other world religions. By the end of Key Stage 3, they’ll have a rich understanding of six different faiths.

We are incredibly impressed with the entire year group and are excited to see what they will achieve in the next half term.
